Fighting for Faith Part 2: What Faith Is...

May 31, 2026    Youth Pastor Austen Morton

This powerful message challenges us to examine the difference between living with hope and living with faith. Drawing from Ephesians 2:8 and Hebrews 11:1, we're confronted with a vital truth: faith isn't wishful thinking or optimistic hoping—it's the assurance and title deed of God's promises already in our possession. The sermon unpacks how Jesus taught that faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains, yet so many believers remain stuck looking at their mountains instead of commanding them to move. We discover that our words matter immensely in this faith walk—are we speaking in faith, declaring God's promises as already accomplished, or are we speaking in doubt and hope? The message uses the Amplified translation of Hebrews 11:1 to emphasize words like 'assurance,' 'proof,' 'conviction,' and 'real fact'—none of which suggest uncertainty. When we pray for healing, are we begging God to heal us someday, or are we thanking Him that by Jesus's stripes we were already healed? This shift from future hope to present faith is transformative. The teaching reminds us that blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe—our proof is the Word of God, not our circumstances or feelings. We're called to walk by faith and not by sight, to be evidence of God's power to a doubting world that desperately needs to see Him working in our lives.
